Founded in 1961 as a 501 (c)3, Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater (FPCT) is a former Alabama State Council on the Arts (ASCA) Governor’s Award Winner dedicated to the bring the magic of theater and arts education to the families of the Tennessee Valley. Through stage productions, year-round Academy classes and a hands-on formal mentoring program, FPCT provides a distinctive opportunity for arts education and a cross-generational family volunteer experience, affecting over 19,000 audience members, students, and volunteers annually.
Theater experience and education yields children who are self-confident, creative thinkers, team players and invested in the communities around them. FPCT is proudly entertaining and educating our third generation of children in and around Madison County, Alabama. FPCT strives to reach children from all walks of life to provide a wholly unique theater arts education experience.
FPCT is a volunteer-driven organization, led by a full-time paid Executive Director who oversees a combination of paid and volunteer staff, including a full-time paid Education Director, a part time Education & Outreach Coordinator and a staff over 24 professional teaching artists. We are currently partially supported by grants from ASCA, The (Huntsville) City Arts & Culture Grant Program, and the Jane K. Lowe Foundation.
